On receipt of the "FLASHBACK" book (not the edition), I opened it to simply read the preface and scan a few pages. I planned to set it aside for my bedtime reading. But, for reasons I now fully understand, I kept reading.
As I enjoyed each piece of poetry, I would read the associated commentary, only to discover that the TRUE REWARD came when I would immediately go back and re-read the referenced poem. I repeated this for each poem, as I found I could not stop CRAVING THE DENOUEMENTS! Before I knew it, I had consumed a 4-cup pot of tea and read the entire book. I don't think I can birth appropriate words to accurately describe the experience. It was NOSTALGIC, STIMULATING, and PASSIONATE -- it left me yearning for more, and never wanting it to end.
When it was all done, I realized that "FLASHBACK" was so riveting that I had been sitting upright, blindly reaching for tea, and holding my breath the entire time I was reading. In the end, I fell back in my seat, exhaled, and exclaimed, "Oh, My God!"
I am so glad I also have the edition to take with me when I travel.
What a brilliant work of art by an exceptionally gifted artist! All I can say to her is, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”
